FAQs

  • While financial need is not a primary criterion, the scholarship is intended to support students who may need help with college-related expenses. Our goal is to empower future leaders by providing them with a financial head start as they pursue higher education.

  • We look for students involved in activities that align with public service and leadership. This could include student government, volunteer work, church activities, community service projects, social activism, or participating in clubs and organizations that focus on improving the community. We value both formal and informal experiences that demonstrate a commitment to serving others.

  • We are looking for students who exhibit leadership potential and are actively involved in public and community service. Ideal candidates have demonstrated integrity, advocacy, and service through their academic work and extracurricular activities. We seek students passionate about making a positive impact, who aim to become conscious, civic-minded leaders in their community and the world.

  • Commitment to public service means the applicant actively engages in activities that benefit their school or community. This can include volunteering, participating in social justice initiatives, being involved in your church, organizing community events, or working with advocacy groups. We are looking for students who recognize community challenges and are driven to address them.

  • Academics are important but only one part of the selection process. While we require a minimum GPA of 3.0, we understand that academic performance is just one indicator of a student’s potential. Leadership, school and community engagement, and a commitment to public service are equally important factors in our decision-making.

  • Leadership potential refers to a student's ability to inspire others, take initiative, and work toward positive change. It can be demonstrated through involvement in community projects, organizing events, mentoring peers, or standing up for important causes. We are interested in students who are not only leaders today but who have the potential to grow into transformative leaders in the future.

  • Yes, recurring donations are encouraged and greatly appreciated to ensure the longevity of the Middle Tyger Scholarship Program. Unfortunately, the donation site doesn’t offer an option for recurring giving, but please email inbox@middletygerscholarship.com if you are interested in making contributions on a monthly, quarterly, or yearly basis.

  • Donors will receive updates about the scholarship program, including information about the recipients, their achievements, and how their funds have been used to support these students’ educational journeys. A quarterly newsletter will be sent out to keep you informed.

  • By supporting the Middle Tyger Community Scholarship, donors help students get one step closer to continuing their education. While only one student will receive the scholarship, we will operate in a cohort-style format to support a group of 3 to 5 students. Even if only one student receives the scholarship, the cohort will allow others to receive guidance and mentorship, as well as opportunities to explore their passions.

This structure ensures that students have access to resources and relationships that can help them grow academically and personally. More details about the cohort programming will be available soon, as we envision this becoming a lifelong community of scholars committed to making transformational change.

  • 100% of your donation is directed toward the student’s education, ensuring that your contribution directly impacts their educational journey.

  • Scholarship recipients are chosen based on their leadership potential, commitment to public service, academic standing, and application materials, including an essay and a letter of recommendation. The selection committee will consider students who embody the core values of service and integrity.
