As a proud graduate of Byrnes High School, Tim has always been deeply committed to uplifting his community through the lens of public health. His journey began with a transformative internship at PRISMA Health, where he gained invaluable insights into health administration and witnessed firsthand the critical role hospitals play in supporting marginalized communities. This experience solidified Tim’s passion for public health and ignited his desire to drive meaningful change.

During his high school years, Tim balanced academics with leadership roles, serving as Student Body President and competing as a two-time member of the Varsity Basketball team. His involvement in Leadership Byrnes and the Economic Mobility Committee of the Spartanburg Youth Philanthropy Program through the United Way of the Upstate allowed him to develop a deeper understanding of the socioeconomic challenges facing our community.

Currently, as a student at UNC Chapel Hill, Tim is pursuing a BSPH in Health Policy and Management with aspirations to continue advocating for equity in health. He is an active member of the Minority Student Caucus and the Healthcare Sector of The Policy Network, where he collaborates with peers to understand and influence public health policy. Additionally, as a member of the Union of Black Men, he strives to foster a more inclusive environment for black students on campus.

As a Light on the Hill Scholar, Tim is also committed to honoring the legacy of black alumni while empowering the next generation of leaders. He lives by a mission — to uplift communities and create transformational change in public health, ensuring that everyone has access to the resources they need to thrive.
